Create Your Service Group

Create Your Service Group Phone Text Chain

The SERVICE ID of each member of your SERVICE group on a text chain is all you need to conduct transactions. This consists of their First and Last initial and their telephone number.  From this text chain, you will send and receive SERVICE points for the work you perform or the items you supply each other, just as if you were sending money through CashApp or Zelle.  The more useful items and services each member can offer, the more each member can live without spending actual money for daily necessities, but can simply shop within the group and pay with SERVICE points.  Gradually this exchange system will become a natural way of life.

Enrich Your Friends and Clear Clutter From Your Home

As you circulate your possessions among those in your SERVICE group, you will accumulate more SERVICE points you can then use to exchange for the things you need, while enriching your friends with the things you have! Soon you will find your residence free from unwanted clutter of old things you no longer even use taking up living space. You'll feel free of the burdon of "stuff" you are holding on to for reasons you no longer even remember. You'll only spend money when absolutely necessary, and only on things you can't get through your SERVICE group, which in a short time will be a very minimal amount of necessities!

Keep Transaction Records on Your Phone Simple

List Your Possessions On An Easily Accessible Digital Record

You can write on the "Note Pad" section of your cell phone the list of possessions you are willing to use in exchange for other items or services, so that your list is easily accessible. You can also choose to write or type things on a piece of paper, print it out, or take a screen shot of it on your phone and e-mail it to yourself, so in case your phone gets lost, you still have your records.  For easy record keeping, categorize your items in alphabetical order: Accessories, Bath towels, Cookware, Dishes, Electronics, Furniture, Garden tools, Jewelry, Linen, Pillows, Rugs, Shoes, Toiletries, etc.

Create Your SERVICE Group In A Group Text

Go to the Message App, go to "Compose New Message" on the upper right hand corner.  Start with the message "THIS IS MY SERVICE GROUP."  Then add the names of the people you wish to include in the group, you can simply go to your "Contacts" file on you phone and tap the names to add them. After you have sent the message, tap the group of names and underneath will appear the words "Change Name and Photo." Tap the words and wher it says Enter A Group Name, put simply MY SERVICE GROUP. From there you will record each transaction.

Start With Your First Transaction: REQUESTED or OFFERED

The Request for an item or service precedes the response from members of your SERVICE group. The same is with an item or service you wish to Offer  to the group.  Any member wishing to respond will call by phone, discuss it and reach an agreement.  The resulting transaction is then recorded in the group text, indicating the item or service provided, its value in service points, who received the item and who received the points. The points for providing the service can then be used to "buy" other items or services fom the group.  There is no concept of anything being "lost" or "gained" as a result of the transactions.  It is an exchange, so each participant gets what is desired.

Create A New Text Chain After Many Transactions or When Adding People

Depending upon the frequency of transactions among your group, you may need to create a new text chain every month, or even every week, if there is a lot of activity, so transaction records are easy to find.  After a month, you may choose to add new people to the group, which will also require a new text chain to use for the group. The SERVICE ID which identifies each person by first and last initial and phone number, helps to keep transaction records simple.  Descriptions of items to be exchanged for SERVICE points may also be brief. Transactions include the date, the SERVICE IDs of the giver and receiver, a brief description of the item (name, color, size, etc.) or the service and time spent, and service points given. These points can be used as currency with other group members.

Use Service Points As Currency, Add Points When Needed

As you can see from the sample provided, HR requested window washing.  JL, who has a cleaning business, performed the service, which took 130 minutes (that's 2 hours and 10 minutes) or 130 service points. (We recommend that time be rounded off to the nearest 5 minutes, rather than counting seconds on the clock.)  JL needs a website for the cleaning business.  The request was answered by YC, who took 125 minutes to design the website for JL (that's 2 hours and 5 minutes) or 125 service points.  JL still has 5 service points left over from HR, which can be added to however many service points JL will issue to the next person who fulfills a request by JL. If the next person JL pays with service points supplies 45 minutes of service, that's 45 service points. JL already has 5 points and may add another 40 points either by providing actual points or providing 40 minutes of service, or providing items that add up to 40 points. (Each item given in exchange for SERVICE points is worth 1 point per item.)  The system is easy to follow if all are honest and truthful.  The objective is to provide items that add fo the well being of others and to show gratitude by issuing points for the time others spend providing a service or providing an item you need.
